Must Have Plumbing Tools
Whether you’re a new homeowner or long time resident it never hurts to be prepared for any plumbing challenges that may arise. There are a few tools you should keep on hand in the event you need to make plumbing repairs or updates.
Basic Plumbing Tools
These tools are essential for any homeowner. These won’t solve every problem you run into but you will be able to cover the basics like: changing a shower head, changing a faucet, installing a new sink.
Locking Pliers or Adjustable Wrench
In most cases these two are interchangeable and perform the same functions. People tend to get more use out of the locking pliers.
Needle-Nose Pliers
These come in handy when trying to perform a task in a tight spot. Needle nose pliers are also useful for detailed work or grasping small parts.
Teflon Tape
This is also commonly referred to as “plumbers tape”. It’s best to keep a roll of this in
your toolbox for immediate needs like sealing a pipe, shower head, or supply lines.
Plumbers Putty
This putty is commonly used to create a water-resistant seal on unpressured joints like sink drains.
Basin Wrench
Trying to get to that hard to reach spot under the sink? The basin wrench is designed specifically for that.
Caulk and Caulk Gun
This may be the most versatile and necessary tool to keep around the house. For plumbing it can be used to repair sinks, leaks, and seams.
These tools can be used to cover the basics and for smaller projects. If you think you will be doing more advanced plumbing work, you will need additional tools. For questions or plumbing needs contact Shamrock Plumbing at 801-505-9505 or online.
