Plumbing Horror Stories
It’s almost Halloween, and at Shamrock, it’s got us thinking about horror stories. Not just horror movies you see in the theater and horror stories you watch YouTube videos about, but plumbing horror stories.
*cue ominous music*
If you’ve ever had a plumbing issue and thought to yourself “I can fix this,” perhaps it’s better that you don’t. We’ve seen a lot of plumbing mistakes in our time, and here are a few of the worst:
Bad Leaky Pipe Repair
Plumbing leaks crop up all the time. It doesn’t matter if your house is old or new, things happen. If this unfortunate occurrence happens to you and your family, don’t repair it with duct tape…
Not only does this not last long, it might not fully close the leak and it definitely isn’t safe if your water pressure get’s too high. Instead, use a pipe sealant like the ones Home Depot offers.
Hair Clogs
This one is truly out of a horror story nightmare. When your sinks and showers aren’t draining, and you pull a huge clump of hair out of it? Disgusting, and rather like a Gremlin come crawling out of your bathtub.
But wait! This one came back with a revenge! If you have extracted the hair ball and your drain still isn’t draining, you can either try something like Drain-O or give us a call.
Cold Showers
This one might not seem that scary just reading it, but we’ve all experienced a wintry shower, and no matter what time of year it is, they aren’t pleasant. Taking a cold shower is almost as horrifying as those classic horror-movie shower scenes.
If you’re experiencing frequently cold showers, you might need to have your water heater looked at.
Garbage Disposal-ing a Fork
We’ve probably all done this. Whether it’s a knife, fork, or spoon, it’s probably fallen in there and we’ve started the disposal without knowing. This can ruin both the utensil you dropped in there, as well as the disposal. You’ve got to always be vigilant about this horror story, but Shamrock is there to help you if you accidentally make this mistake.
Doesn’t it just look ominous?
Shoddy Bathroom Remodels
This is a nightmare for sure. If you think you are prepared to remodel your bathroom or kitchen, you should look into letting a professional help you. If not, you get things like this:
Tis the season for horror stories and terrifying nightmares, but that doesn’t mean you have to have them in your home. For any and all plumbing needs, give Shamrock a call at 866-262-8007 so you can get back to watching the real horror stories on your television!
